Hello, I'm Heresy Stones.

I create sculptures.

Have a look.

Me in the studio with Seeking Light

In my studio, shapes materialize straight from my feelings, mood of the day, and the music I'm listening to, rather than some rational, strategic plan.

My creative process is akin to an intimate dialogue with clay as shapes are almost never premeditated but rather born when a big lump of clay is already in my hands. From there, it is freely transformed into its final form: abstract, often close to nature, yet characterized by an unmistakable mark of strangeness – hence Heresy Stones.

“The harder the clay, the more beautifully it takes the beating and the more it hurts.”

I firmly believe that raw clay, shaped entirely by hands, is an extremely interesting material to explore, both by artists and spectators. In this exploration I invite you not to limit yourself to sight but to extend your hands and fingers like a curious child – to feel smooth, voluptuous curves in your palms, to get to know rough, cracked, ripped, and wild surfaces with your fingertips.

Some of my works are fired in anagama kiln, adding yet another dimension of extremely rich, variegated surfaces where every little piece can be considered a microcosm of nature. You will find green lakes, dark rivers, shiny crystals, stone-hard moss – just to name a few – combined in a single piece of work.
